A powerful 63 m waterfall near Badulla, nicknamed the bridal-veil falls for the misty spray that cloaks its plunge.
Overview
Dunhinda Falls drops about 63 m in a single thunderous curtain into a pool below, throwing up a constant veil of spray that gives it the local name of the bridal falls. Reached by a scenic 1.5 km jungle path from the car park, the walk passes a viewpoint over the smaller Kuda Dunhinda before arriving at an observation platform facing the main cascade.
History
The falls lie about 6 km from Badulla on the Badulu Oya and have long been one of Uva Province's celebrated natural landmarks, drawing pilgrims and travellers heading to the ancient temples of Badulla.
