1. Who we are and what these terms cover
eShriLanka ("we", "us", the "Site") is an independent online travel guide to Sri Lanka available at eshrilanka.com. By accessing or using the Site — including the trip planner, maps, community features and newsletter — you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Travel information is guidance, not guarantee
We work hard to keep destination details, opening hours, entry fees, transport notes, weather data and event dates accurate and current, but conditions in the real world change without notice. All content — including itineraries produced by the trip planner and budget estimates — is provided for general guidance only. Always confirm critical details (visas, safety guidance, opening times, prices, festival dates) with official sources before you rely on them. We are not a travel agency and do not sell bookings, tickets or insurance.
3. Your account
Some features (saving trips, writing reviews, sharing stories) require a free account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate registration information and be at least 16 years old to create an account. We may suspend or delete accounts that breach these terms.
4. Content you submit
Reviews, photos, travel stories, hidden gems and other material you submit ("your content") remain yours. By submitting, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, translate, excerpt and promote your content on the Site and our official channels, with attribution to your display name. You confirm your content is your own work, does not infringe anyone's rights, and contains nothing unlawful, defamatory, misleading or commercial spam. All submissions are moderated; we may decline or remove content at our discretion. To have your content removed, contact us.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site: no scraping at abusive volumes, no attempts to breach security or rate limits, no impersonation, no uploading of malicious files, and no use of community features to harass others or advertise without our agreement.
6. Our content and third-party services
The Site's editorial content, design and software are protected by copyright. You may share links and quote short excerpts with attribution; wholesale republication requires permission. Photographs may be subject to their own licences (many destination photos are used under Creative Commons licences from their original authors). The Site displays data from third parties — including weather from Open-Meteo, ratings sourced from Google, maps from MapTiler/Google — and links to external sites we do not control and are not responsible for.
7. Advertising
The Site is funded by advertising, including Google AdSense and directly sold placements. Advertisements are marked as such. An advertisement on eShriLanka is not an endorsement of the advertiser's services.
8. Limitation of liability
The Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content — including travel disruptions, costs or injuries connected to decisions made using our guides, planner or community content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
