The best wildlife island outside Africa
The world's densest leopard population, the largest animal that has ever lived cruising offshore, and hundreds of wild elephants gathering on a single lakebed — Sri Lanka is, acre for acre, one of Earth's great wildlife destinations.

No other island this size offers a big-game lineup like Sri Lanka's: leopards lounging in Yala's rock outcrops, blue and sperm whales off Mirissa, and The Gathering at Minneriya, where up to three hundred elephants converge in the dry season — Asia's greatest wildlife spectacle. Add sloth bears, crocodiles, five turtle species and nearly 500 bird species (34 found nowhere else), and every day outdoors becomes a safari.
The parks are compact and affordable, morning and afternoon game drives are easy to arrange from nearby towns, and pairing land and sea is simple: whales at dawn from Mirissa, elephants the same evening inland. Time your trip to the migration calendar and you can reasonably hope for leopard, elephant and blue whale inside a single week.

斯里兰卡最好的国家公园
Few countries offer safari experiences as accessible as Sri Lanka's. Within a few hours of any coast you can watch leopards patrol Yala's scrub jungle, see hundreds of elephants converge on the Minneriya reservoir during the dry-season Gathering, or scan Wilpattu's forest lakes from a quiet jeep track. Beyond the big-ticket mammals, Bundala's lagoons teem with flamingos and shorebirds, Horton Plains protects cloud forest ending at the sheer drop of World's End, and Sinharaja shelters most of the island's endemic birds. Each park has its own season and specialty, so it pays to match the park to your wishlist.

斯里兰卡丘陵地区 10 个最佳地点
Sri Lanka's hill country is another world: mist rolling over tea terraces, waterfalls beside winding mountain roads, and mornings cool enough for a fireplace. Centred on Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella, the highlands reward slow travel — ride the famous blue train between Kandy and Ella, hike to World's End at dawn, and finish the day with a factory-fresh cup of Ceylon tea. December to April brings the clearest mountain views, but the hills are green and walkable year-round.

Sri Lanka's beaches split neatly across two seasons. From December to April the south and west coasts shine: golden crescents like Mirissa and Unawatuna, the long resort sands of Bentota, and the quiet coves around Tangalle enjoy calm seas and blue skies. From May to September the action flips to the east, where Nilaveli's powder-white sand, Pasikuda's shallow reef-sheltered bay, and Arugam Bay's surf come into their own. Whichever month you travel, roughly half the island's coastline is in season, so pick your beach by the calendar and you will rarely be disappointed.

Sri Lanka's central highlands wring the moisture out of two monsoons and send it tumbling off the escarpments in hundreds of waterfalls, from roadside cascades to multi-tier giants hidden behind tea estates. The tallest, Bambarakanda, drops 263 metres through pine forest, while Diyaluma's terraced upper pools have become one of the island's most photographed natural swimming spots. Most of the famous falls cluster around the hill country roads between Kitulgala, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, and Badulla, making them easy to string together on a tea country road trip. They are at their thundering best just after the rains, from October to January.

好问题
Where can I see leopards in Sri Lanka?
Yala National Park's Block 1 has the world's highest leopard density; Wilpattu National Park offers quieter sightings among forested lakes. February–March and the dry months give the best odds.
When is The Gathering of elephants?
From roughly June to September, wild elephants converge on the receding shores of Minneriya and Kaudulla tanks — often two to three hundred at once, the largest gathering of Asian elephants on Earth.
Can you see blue whales in Sri Lanka?
Yes — Mirissa on the south coast is one of the world's most reliable blue-whale grounds from November to April, and Trincomalee takes over on the east coast from May to September.
